Scope
The motivation behind building Dankar
I want to build a whimsical and fun world where there are plenty of adventurers and interesting places to discover. I've always been interested in exploration, migration and mysteries, and Dankar is a way for me to put all these aspects together.
The goal of the project
I created Dankar to look at an optimistic and hopeful way of living. I wanted to explore the spiritual, fantastical and mystical all in one. I want to give people an exciting and optimistic experience while exploring the world, where everything is there to be uncovered.
I created this world with the intention of creating another story, but I also think smaller stories and anthologies would work better for this world, due to its scale and nature.
Dankar's Unique Selling point
The main concept of Dankar is that the past is not so easily accessible anymore. A hundred years ago, there was a natural disaster that destroyed many civilisations and lands. Now, the challenge is what to do with the limited knowledge left behind. This means there's a focus on exploration, technology and history.

Genre
Dankar is a high fantasy, post-apocalyptic world. Magic runs through the world and is also used to power technology. The most advanced tech is steampunk in nature.
Reader Experience
Dankar is hopeful and mystical, with many new places to explore, from the floating islands above the mountains to the lands that have seen better years. Every new place has their own secrets and histories waiting to be uncovered. Most places are very pleasant, but the journeys, the islands and even the waters can be quite dangerous.
Reader Tone
Dankar is a Knightglow setting where things are occasionally unpleasant. Many people dream to explore the world as it is, so there are a lot of ordinary explorers who can have bad experiences.

Character Agency
People have a lot of power to change the world, even if they don't realise it at first. Although one person can't create global change, they can change themselves and the people around them. When people band together, they can enact larger changes, but they'll have to be careful of the consequences of their actions.
Focus
Discovery & Exploration: The main focus of Dankar is exploration. Even though the world has changed, there are still lands to explore and secrets to uncover. The world is always open to the brave and the curious.
Pursuit of Knowledge: Even though the previous civilisations are now gone, that doesn't mean their knowledge has too. Many adventurers are dedicated to retrieving lost relics and ancient texts. The past is often key to building the future, but sometimes, it can be a barrier.
Fear of the Unknown: Many societies are afraid of what they don't know. This ranges from magical spirits to foreign cultures and lands. So there is a culture of fear and comfort in tradition and old prejudices. But we cannot live this way forever.
Magic: Magic is a core part of the world, and is what links everything together. It brings knowledge and power. Those that have an affinity for it (natural or otherwise), can make use of it and create new possibilities. But that doesn't mean those possibilities are always good ones.

Discovery of Sentinel Tech: A young woman discovers some hidden technology created by the Sentinels, the ancient beings who once roamed these lands.
Foreign Magic: The world is being corroded by some kind of dark magic. People suffer chronic illnesses with no known cure, and ecosystems are withering or dying.
