Offsight Disorder

Offsight Disorder is a mental illness which affects the vision centre of the brain, resulting in specific and constant visual issues and hallucinations.

Transmission & Vectors

The disorder is not transmitted through any means, although it is suspected to potentially be hereditary.

Causes

The condition is most commonly triggered through stress triggering any innate magic within a persons body to over-inhabit the brains vision centres. The magic alters the brains perception of the world around them, resulting in hallucinations that seem to be similar through every recorded experience.   Very few recorded experiences have begun from something other than a trigger of stress. Most of these other causes is the disorder being present from birth, leading some experts to think that stress in the womb might have triggered to activate before birth.

Symptoms

Initially the condition solely manifests as a blurring of the vision. Eventually said blurring will turn into seeing things in double, and slightly off centre - which gives the condition its name.   The hallucinations manifest later on, and are told as seeing other objects within immediate sight duplicated and placed elsewhere, often as a smaller or larger size. If the room and location of the items are unfamiliar to the patient, it often results in confusion as they go to interact with the object and find nothing is there.   Other symptoms associated with it are frequent headaches, brief loss of vision, and a slow adjustment of vision when moving in and out of light.

Treatment

Therapy involving the affected persons innate magic is required as the treatment for this condition.

Prognosis

Without proper therapy or rehabilitation, the condition is long term or permanent.

Prevention

There is no known prevention for offsight disorder.

Cultural Reception

Offsight Disorder is seen a similar level as needing glasses, so it is generally accepted within most communities. However, there is a lack of medically trained magic users who can administer the right therapy to cure the condition as the condition itself is rare.
