Apidica

Apidica keep themselves isolated from the politics of Vespica and Formica. They predominately live in jungles, only represented by hibernating species, which is unique amongst the various Hymendia. Like Vespica, all Apidica have wings. Their dense hairlike structures make them resilient in the face of declining temperatures while also allowing for early awakening when Summer arrives.
Their caste system, while more complex than Vespica, puts more emphasis on the queen's protection. Any given citizen is embued with self-sacrificial values inherent in their biology. This overemphasis can make their colonies appear simplistic when dangers arise, as all civilians take charge to fend off invaders on the front lines. Ironically, Apidica is far from the most ancestral group of Hymendia, yet their methods have proven successful enough to persist through the ages.

Unique Subsistence

Apidica reduce organic material into a viscous, sugary fluid that every member of their colonies can subsist on. Most colonies cultivate extensive floral farms as a source of this fluid, though it can be created from any flowering species across Summer, ensuring food is always plentiful for Apidica. Their unique subsistence necessitates herbivory, which often insinuates a sense of peaceful oneness with nature: those who engage with Apidica know better. As animals provide no nutritional value, Apidica are strictly territorial to prevent their floral farms from being exploited.
