A history of the rulers of Daly
The direct descendants of the original leaders of the flight to Daly, Lady Aellarian of Avonel and Windwalker Darien, ruled well and capably for many years, overseeing a great deal of expansion and development in the new kingdom.
King Liot is chosen from the remaining nobility to take rulership of the new Kingdom of Daly and ascends the throne in the newly constructed capital.
The most vocal of the temple priests were assassinated by Prince Heron, leading to his crowning as King by the remaining nobles.
Queen Nienna ascends to the throne of Daly at the age of 39, after her duel with her uncle King Heron.
The shock of losing half of the capital and many of the oldest villages in the kingdom is too much, and King Tristam dies during the disaster.
King Lovil dies, leaving behind only a son born out of wedlock named Geraint. The nobles press instead for the crown to pass to his nephew, Hira, son of Lovil's sister Princess Lieth.
King Hira dies childless, assassinated by the warlock Aelfric the Dark who rises to power.
Aelfric the Dark, a warlock of phenomenal power, killed the childless King Hira and installed himself as ruler, bending the nobles to his will with a mix of spellwork and coercion. It took a brave party of adventurers to end his rule during the Winter Solstice and bring his tyranny to an end.
With the last legitimate link to the founders broken with the killing of King Hira, the Kingdom entered a tumultuous period of treachery, betrayal, capricious rulers and threats from the continent.
King Hira dies childless, assassinated by the warlock Aelfric the Dark who rises to power.

Duchess Ila is chosen by the remaining nobles to take the throne, having the closest blood ties back to the founders, in an attempt to cut off any claims from the Avilet Empire (who had an equivalent claim to Daly through Queen Avril of Avilet, granddaughter of Queen Livet)
Tired of almost a decade of war, constant political upheaval and rampant, violent, pananoia gripping the capital, the nobles rise up and remove Ila from power, confining her for the rest of her days in the temple of Goibniu, in the hopes of healing her fractured mind and soul and bringing her clarity and knowledge before her final days.
After the deposition of Queen Ila, the nobles were desperate to restore Daly to the steady certainty of the past, and, hoping the bloodline had bred true, raised Jareth to the throne- the commoner-born great-grandson of King Lovil the Great.
Unfortunately, Jareth saw this as the direct intervention of the gods, not the nobles, and started giving the temples previously unheard of access direct into the heart of Dalian politics.
The temples, having grown in power exponentially, strike against the King, justifying it with the illegitimacy of his grandfather's birth and the revocation of his divine right to rule.
HIerophant Arias, leader of all the temples in La Liotsound, rises to power with the help of an army of clerics and paladins. Vowing to bring the gods back to Daly, he manages to cement a significant base of power in the capital, although struggles to reach the outlying areas of the kingdom.
The Hierophant, the limits of his power already stretched thin, falls to the increased might of the nobles as they lead a civil war against him.
After the darkness rises the cleansing flame of Queen Haileth, then the soaring of the line as the kingdom flies forward.
Queen Haileth, granddaughter of King Jareth, ascends the throne with the support of the nobles. Although only 15, she is amongst a generation who also came to power young amongst the tragedy of the Violet Plague.
Queen Haileth dies at the age of 66, succeeded by her eldest son, Hira II, but with her remaining 3 children taking an equal hand in the running of Daly.
King Hira takes the throne and moves south, leaving his youngest brother, Tristram, to look after the north and his other brother, Godric, to regulate the midlands. His sister, Princess Lieth, is sent to live witht heir distant cousins, the royalty of Avilet, with the hopes of building ties between the two nations further.
Unknown assassins kill King Hira II, his wife and children, and his brother Prince Godric, leaving only his younger brother Tristram, safe in the north desert forts.
A failed coup reminds King Tristram II of his age, and he abdicates in favour of his young son (of his fourth wife) Prince Tristram, (his older daughter, Princess Livet, already being more than 70)
Tristram II dies at the age of 108, happily surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
King Tristram III abdicates in favour of his oldest child, his daughter Haileth.
Queen Haileth II dies under odd circumstances, with succession clear in favour of eldest son Godric.
The ascension of King Godric to the throne is challenged by his cousin Princess Aliette, married into the Avilet royal family (in turn descended from Queen Livet I) and claiming greater right through both marriage to the legitimate heir, Prince Aefric of Avilet, and through her father Prince Newalt, King Tristram III's only son.
Prince Godric is anointed King despite his cousin's claims, but Avilet invades to press Aliette's claim to the throne. A decade of civil war breaks out, with regular invasions from the Avilet Empire bringing support from some of the population, but Godric fiercely supported by more.
After nearly a decade, King Godric manages to defeat his cousin and her husband, signing a peace treaty with Emperor Aeric of Avilet and finally being able to officially claim the throne of Daly.
King Godric, his younger son Prince Lovil, and several of his nobles, who were unfortunately sailing at the time of the tidal wave, are killed.
The scale of the Liot disaster plunges King Harding into a deep depression. He takes his own life without producing a heir, and the crown goes to Marguerith, the 6 year old granddaughter of his younger brother, with her uncle Duke Idorith standing as regent.
6 year old Princess Marguerith is elevated to Queen, with her Uncle, Duke Idorith, standing as Regent until she reaches the age of 16.
Queen Marguerith dies peacefully in her sleep, the crown passing to her eldest son, Harding
Although Daly was growing steadily, the reigns of the royals during this period were often much shorter than would be expected, with accidents, assassinations and more claiming them early.
Queen Marguerith dies peacefully in her sleep, the crown passing to her eldest son, Harding
King Harding II dies, childless like his namesake, and is succeeded by his younger brother, Meric
King Meric, seeing treachery everywhere, sets off to try and form an alliance with the dangerous Paruel, scared that the Avilet Empire will use Prince Gregor to try and take his throne. He is not heard from again
As it is more than 5 years since the King was last heard from, his eldest son, Tristram, is officially crowned King Tristram IV
During the festival relocating the capital, King Tristram IV abdicates in favour of his son, Kentric
King Kentric is killed by monsters as he travels near the Liot hills, with clear succession in favor of his eldest son, Godric
King Godric III takes the throne, and promptly marries his cousin Princess Mariella to Baron Marthric of Avilet, descendent of the exiled Prince Gregor, in order to deepen links between the two countries. This exemplifies his reign, which is one of the most politically charged in Dalian history
King Godric dies of old age. With oldest child Jessamine still missing, the crown passes to only son Harding.
King Harding III dies without issue, having spent his entire time as king focussed on building Port Tianston and increasing trade with the mainland. His funeral is held at Port Tianston as it is formally recognised as a city, and his sister Haileth, already in late middle age, takes the throne.
Feeling herself too old to rule well, Queen Haileth III abdicates in favour of her son, Meric
King Meric II retires to build a fortified city overlooking the Wooded Isles, at the south end of the new mainland territories, ceding the throne to his eldest child, Marguerith. There are rumours the new city is either to protect, or protected by, a dragon.
Queen Marguerith II falls from her horse riding out to deal with a minor peasant uprising, breaking her neck. Her eldest son, Godric, succeeds the throne
Both King Godric IV and the next in succession, his brother Prince Jareth, die in unfortunate accidents less than 4 months apart. The throne passes to Prince Jareth's daughter, Livet, still only 16
Queen Livet II goes missing while travelling to Fort Roblack. No amount of scrying or searching finds her
King Tristram V, Queen Livet II's cousin twice removed, takes the throne. His mother, the sorceress Princess Liovette, attends as his advisor
King Tristram V dies in his sleep, at exactly the same time as his unnaturally youthful mother Princess Liovette. He is succeeded by his eldest daughter, Morgause
Morgause's reign saw the final steps to overhaul the governance and nobility of Daly into a system that was based on merit as much as birth. Each area of Daly finally achieved equal representation during her rule, and she is widely considered the fairest queen of all.
An assassination attempt staged by some disgruntled former soldiers technically fails, but Queen Morgause, seeing foes around every corner, dies of a heart attack less than a month later, leaving the throne to her daughter Lieth
