Silkspitter Worm (sɪlkspɪtə wɜːm)
Silkspitter Worms originate from the Underdark, but nowadays can be found at the bottom of most garbage bins. Their speciality relies in their ability to digest anything, although depending on the matter it might take them a longer than usual amount. They produce Silk as excrement.
Basic Information
Anatomy
White worms, that are like many tumors linked together. These tumors grow as they eat and shrink as they excrete. The tumors don't grow uniformly as things are digested, so they can have quite weird shapes. They are both sticky and slimy.
Genetics and Reproduction
There are times when Silkspitter Worms don't produce Silk. If they digest enough things during these periods, they will excrete Silkspitter Eggs. The babies eat the egg shell around them when they hatch.
Growth Rate & Stages
A Silkspitter Worm is considered mature once they produce Silk, which they can't do during their baby stage.
Ecology and Habitats
They like temperate environments. They melt during heat and freeze during cold. They were first found on the ceilings of the Underdark.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They can digest absolutely everything, but will only produce usable Silk if there was nutrition in what they digested.
Biological Cycle
When cold they move towards elevation, and when hot they move towards lowland.

Domestication
They are easy to capture, but they need to be held in a way that their mouths don't reach whatever is holding them. They can't tilt their heads down so if you place them on a relatively flat surface then they won't eat the surface below them. They are also rather tame, and not looking to escape as long as they are occasionally fed.

Barely a single thought in their heads.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Weak eyes, unable to smell or hear, they usually only react to touch or really strong visual effects happening right in front of them.
