Underdark (ʌndədɑːk)

The Underdark is the underground below the underground, a vast second layer going down to the center of the planet. The roof of the Underdark - often called The Ceiling - is far above the ground level, there's almost as much space in between as space between grass and the clouds. The geography of the Underdark doesn't mimic the Surface.

Geography

Imagine the Surface or a planet, but instead of the atmosphere, it's surrounded by a solid layer of rocks - and thus instead of the sky being lit by the sun, there's just darkness in between. The Underdark has its own mountains, lakes, rivers, and everything, it's like a world under a world.

Fauna & Flora

There are no trees or regular plants in the Underdark. They have an entirely separate flora & fauna from what we know of. The most well known plant of the Underdark is the Night Leaf, a plant that grows with a faint, blue light, and slowly turns the skin (or outer layer) of other species around it greyish.
