Recycling (riːsaɪklɪŋ)

All trash is recycled into Silk thanks to the Silkspitter Worms that are placed into the bottom of bins. These worms can digest almost anything, although they do it quite slowly, so garbage still builds up sometimes. The Silk is then used for Tailoring, or as fertilizer by Farmers.

You did not lose them, they just gained new purpose.
