Basic Information
Anatomie
Arachniads are a female demon species characterised by the unique ability to switch between a humanoid form and a spider form, the infernospider. Their humanoid bodies are slender and covered in matt, pale skin. They possess facial features resembling those of a spider: vibrant red eyes, elongated pointed fangs, and delicate, sickle-shaped hair reminiscent of spider legs. They move with an uncanny, almost spider-like grace. Their limbs, especially their fingers, are slightly elongated and supple, but in principle are more like those of a human. The spider form's physique is robust and muscular with shiny, obsidian-coloured chitinous parts. It has fiery and glowing patterns running across its chitinous armour. They also have bright red eyes in their spider form. The legs are equipped with sharp spines, which are often additionally modified with blades. They have special venom glands with which they produce a poison that makes the affected areas seethe with incredible heat and melts away flesh and bones. They have various demonic runes all over their bodies, which glow in a deep red colour.
Genetik und Vermehrung
Arachniads reproduce in a similar way to all other demons. They need a certain amount of life energy to start the incubarium, a stasis in which they are completely defenceless. Unlike other demon races, they do not need special breeding grounds to which they release their life energy, but lay eggs instead.
Wachstumsrate & -stadien
Arachniads are already fully grown when they hatch from their eggs. Their size depends on the amount of life energy previously transferred in the Incubarium. They do not go through different stages of life, their only way to continue growing is to enter the Incubarium themselves. The Incubarium requires a certain amount of life energy to be activated. Some of this life energy is transferred to the arachniad, causing its body to grow and its abilities to be enhanced.
Ökologie und Lebensräume
The arachniads have a preference for remote and darker environments. While some live in the great citadels of the demon realm, most arachniads have taken up residence in the shadows and caves beneath these citadels. These caves form a complex network that extends beneath the citadels, providing both shelter and a natural habitat for the arachniads. They can lay and care for their eggs in these underground caves during the Incubarium. The dark atmosphere and inaccessible areas provide them with a safe environment.
Ernährung und Gewohnheiten
Arachniads rarely go on direct hunts to gain life energy. Instead, they mainly engage in the conflicts and wars of their citadel. These battles offer them the opportunity to move amidst the battles and gain the life energy essential for their needs. They absorb life energy by consuming blood. Their poison heats the bodies of their victims to such an extent that they begin to melt instead of burning. The arachnids then suck up these molten masses to obtain the life energy they need.
Behaviour
In some cases, they hunt other creatures to show dominance in their territory or to defend their space against intruders. If they feel threatened or are involved in conflict, they will attack other creatures in defence of themselves.

The social structure of arachnids is usually characterised by solitary behaviour and they tend to lead a reclusive life, largely isolated from others. They often favour solitude and independence, which means that they do not necessarily fit into larger social structures. Their lifestyle is characterised by an existence in which they make their own decisions and usually act independently. Despite their tendency to be loners, arachniads often co-operate with other demon species when it is beneficial to their own goals or those of their citadel. Their abilities as counsellors and their tactical skills make them valuable allies in certain situations. However, they do not necessarily co-operate with others for purely social reasons, but rather out of a calculated desire to pursue their own interests or gain an advantage.

The structure of their face often looks more like a mixture of the typical features of spiders and the finer details of a humanoid face, giving them a distinctive and mysterious expression. Their outward appearance is a fascinating interplay of creepiness and elegance. In spider form, their facial features are characterised by a fiery demonic appearance. Their eyes glow an intense, bright red and their fangs are shaped like sharp, glowing claws. Surrounded by flickering fire that envelops her entire appearance, her face radiates an eerie mixture of demonic presence and animalistic ferocity. The structure of her face remains spider-like, but with a heightened demonic aesthetic that emphasises her terrifying and majestic nature.

The geographical distribution is primarily located in the Dark Lands. There they live in the gloomy ravines, in cave systems beneath the citadels or in the ash-covered dead forests. Apart from the Dark Lands, isolated individuals can also appear in other regions. These also hide in dark and remote places, such as caves or forests. However, their appearance outside the Dark Lands is very rare.

Arachniads possess remarkable intelligence. They are extremely clever, tactically adept and have a keen understanding of their surroundings. They often have a special perspective on different things, which is why they are often called upon as advisors for special situations. The sensory abilities of arachniads are a mixture of human and spider-like characteristics. The fine, sickle-like hairs, serve as a sensory system that detects the finest vibrations and air currents. This sensory organ enables them to recognise subtle vibrations in the environment and thus predict when someone or something is approaching, even if it is a long way away. Their abilities also include a heightened sensitivity to chemical stimuli and odours to detect food or danger. The Arachniads are deeply integrated into the hierarchy of the demonic realm of Kagdranoth. Their affiliation to this realm is reflected not only in their physical location, the dark lands and the citadels, but also in their active participation in the political and military structures. Within the empire, the Arachniads fulfil different roles and functions. In their humanoid forms, they mainly act as counsellors, while in their spider form they bring death and destruction to their enemies, crushing them with their huge bodies or melting them with their venom.

Arachniads have a complex language that specialises in communicating and understanding each other. This spider language uses vibrations, specific noises and a combination of body language and chemical signals that are incomprehensible to other demon species. Arachniads also speak the standard demonic language spoken by all demons. This allows them to communicate effectively with other demons, especially in situations that require general, official or external interaction.

Arachniads have a deep-rooted tradition of nest building, which is an essential practice for them. These nests or burrows serve as refuges where they can rest, sleep and protect themselves from intruders. Building and expanding the nest are central components of their lives.
Beziehungen zu anderen Spezies
The arachniads are extremely factionalised, viewing the demon species belonging to their own citadel as allies, while those belonging to other citadels are considered enemies. This factionalisation leads them to find themselves side by side with representatives of different demon species to fight against other demons, even members of their own species. As for other races outside of the demons, they view them solely as a source of life energy. Their interest in other species is limited to how much life energy they can obtain from them. This view reduces all interactions to the aspect of obtaining food and leads to the arachniads only being involved in wars and conflicts with other races when it comes to obtaining life energy.

The spider form of the arachniad is significantly larger than the humanoid form. It can also vary greatly, but on average reaches a size of 2.50 to 3.50 metres.

In their humanoid form, arachniads have matt and pale skin. This ranges from a cool, ashy white to a dark shade of grey. This emphasises the spider-like characteristics of their appearance. The pale skin also gives them a ghostly appearance, which sometimes makes them seem almost supernatural. In their spider form, the arachniads' skin is covered in obsidian-coloured chitinous parts that have a shiny, almost metallic aspect. Above this chitinous armour are fiery and glowing patterns that run along the surface of the body. These patterns shimmer in an intense and menacing red colour and convey an impression of heat and fire. Demonic runes are emblazoned all over her body, glowing in a deep shade of red, giving her appearance an aura of power and mystery.
