Session 8 - Bump in the Night Report
General Summary
Morrigan ran back to their lodging, and searched nearby for the small townhome she remembered Sig lived at. On the way... a strange presence was there, in her mind, trying to hide just out of sight. But skilled in wit, she could still feel it there... hauntingly. Thankfully, as she ran and darted between the streets down a lesser-used alleyway, she slowly felt that presence subside - and took a quick gasp of relief as it faded away. Unsure exactly what it was, she was certain it was nothing good... And the quicker she was rid of it, the better.
She arrived at the house and barely opened the door before noticing - unsurprisingly, the house was littered with traps. Silk - an old rogue tool, often imperceptible to untrained eyes - can prove quite useful when rigging up traps, and given the circumstances, Sig seemed to take his precautions quite seriously indeed. He met her at the door - in a charming nightcap and robe, and upon hearing of an imminent attack, changed, armed himself, and called for aid as they scurried to the rooftops to return to their friends.
Now- the initial conversation was a bit more... cumbersome than that, but Morrigan isn't exactly the silver tongue of the group. Still - Sig understood the gist of it, and in a somewhat charming way, eagerly lent them aid.
The party below ground navigated the sewers without fail, despite the maze of connections this undercity held, and managed to arrive precisely where they meant to. In fact... the keen-eyed Lynx noticed as they ascended that the texture of one wall was slightly different than the next. Strange enough to warrant more investigation. Bemoans was swift to lend a hand - and made a severe crack in the wall, where Luce was then able to start chiseling the opening wider, at least to get a look at what was there.
They soon discovered it was, in fact, a room tucked away behind the wall. Seemingly newly fashioned, Luce immediately crawled through to investigate - leaving the gents behind to make their way through a bit, ahem, *wider*.
They discovered a haphazard underground workshop of sorts, with papers strewn about and magical devices connected and haphazardly working away. At the far end of the room, beyond numerous tables and desks - a person, an older man, lying on a table of sorts, where all these magical tinkerings connected to a device affixed to his head.
Not long after the discovery, Sig returned topside feeling something was amiss... The party promptly drank and enjoyed several potions from his left-behind satchel (Happy St. Patties!), before venturing up top after hearing sounds of commotion. They encountered two large bestial hounds and the stalking silent haunt they had fought with earlier, eliminating all 3 in the fray! And with that, feeling somewhat more comfortable knowing what horrors were dispatched - they ventured back home for a deeply needed sleep. They left Sig and his people to manage the hidden space, unsure of what exactly their next steps would be.
