The Dancing River

This river is named after its erratic currents and hidden rocks underneath the surface, that can waylay the unprepared boatsma - a natural phenomena attributed to the unpredictable Twins. 'The Dance' refers to the craft of deftly steering the barges of the locals around these obstacles.
Part of The Titans Tears river complex which flows from the mountains near Hope, the city of Dawn, the Dancing River refers to the portion of water between Sage's Rest and Dol Gadmen. The river is topped up along its thin, windy route northward by many little creeks and tributaries flowing down from the hills and dales of the Lower Rhakhis.
Many small boating communities dot the riverbanks, with barge being the primary form of transport between both of the Steppe's major hubs. For those who cannot afford the barge, there is a shoddily maintained path that follows the Eastern bank of the river, which winds its way from village to village.
