The Redeemed Organization in D&D | World Anvil

The Redeemed

The Redeemed are a small order of warlocks bound to Uwen that operate out of Vorheim.

Founding

The Redeemed were founded shortly after the dissolution of The Warrior's Five in the 267th year of the Second Age.

Membership

The Redeemed are unusual in their exclusivity; only former Vrunics are permitted to join and only by forsaking their previous patron. Additionally, the recruit is required to pay a fraction of their lifespan to Guildmaster Uwen. In exchange, the guild offers protection from the recruit's former patron and an opportunity at reformation and redemption for their dark pasts.

What it Means to be Redeemed

Under their Guildmaster, the Redeemed seek to fulfill a dual purpose: to atone for their own pasts, and to put end to Vrunism by redemption or force.   Members of the Redeemed actively seek Vrunic and fiendish influence, aiming to quash it before more Vrunics can be created.   Tasks given to members of the Redeemed may include:
  • Finding and eliminating Vrunics in a settlement
  • Hunting powerful fiends
  • Acts of atonement (e.g. pilgrimage, manual labour, extended prayer)
  • Infiltrating established Vrunic circles as spies
  •

    Relationships

The guild is generally tolerated within Dumont, albeit at arms length owing to the often violent pasts of its members and the grudge-bearing natures of dwarves. Despite these dark histories, the guild is well-liked and regularly cooperates with Onyrism in Dumont.   Owing to the Redeemed's penchant for converting Vrunics to their own cause, the organization has made permanent enemies of the cleverer demon lords whose schemes now struggle to penetrate dwarven cities of Dumont. Notably, the minions of Astaroth and Malekith are notorious for actively hunting the Redeemed.
