Twin Suns

Two orbs of fire lie in the center of Cynkardspace: the Eye and the Pupil of Javat.

The larger of the two suns is the white sun called the Eye of Javat, or The Eye for short. To the observer, this white orb appears to be in a still position in the heavens while the smaller Pupil seems to be orbiting it. This illusion is born from the difference in size, as the Pupil is one third of the size of the eye, but in reality both celestial bodies orbit each other around the center point of the crystal sphere.
The smaller sun, The Pupil of Javat or just The Pupil burns with light blue light. It is believed to be a hotter celestial body by some, due to the celestial alignment of both bodies twice per year. When the suns align in such a way that the Pupil is centered in the middle of the Eye it coincides with the summer solstice and is typically the hottest day of the year, as well as being the most holy day by some cultures. The inverse, where the Pupil is completely obscured by the Eye, coincides with winter solstice, the coldest day of the year, is a day many folk fear as it is believed to be day when Sanat is at the most powerful and his followers - which are primarily monsters - are at their most dangerous.
The names of the suns derive from the common imagery associated with Javat, his holy symbol being an eye and combined with the ancient projection of divinity onto the life sustaining sun.

In Other Cultures

The given names of the suns are understood and agreed upon by the majority of human cultures on the continent, however in some more distant lands and among some other races they may use a different terminology. They are called The Hunter and The Prey by volken, Torch and Shadow in the Red Crown Kingdom, The Bitch and The Cub on the Wolf Isles, The Lord and The Lady by Felis, and The Giver and The Servant by Reptonians.
