The Pleiades, or the Seven Sisters of Cycadia

The Pleiades is a bunch of Cycadian Legends detailing how Cycadia and its people were created.

Summary

A long time ago, back when Earth was still mostly ocean and single cell orgamisms, 7 stars fell out of Neptune (known an Iksara to the Cycadians/Samarlinians). The 7 stars became 7 sisters with great power who landed on the then-lifeless Cycadia. The sister's names were Myleria, Mynder, Silinvia, Anyran, Astyrian, Merlaya, and Samarli. Samarli, being the youngest, died within the forst few.seconds, so her sisters each took a part of her and kept out inside them for later. It's weird, bear with me. Then the 6 remaining sisters used their star powers to make the people of Cycadia, each based off the kind of Star they were. So Myleria made Ice Elementals, because she's "the Ice Star", and Mynder made Fire Elementals because she's "the Fire Star". Then they proceeded to make Cycadia a bit more habitable and taught their "decendents" to use their powers to survive. Then, of course, they went on adventures like all gods of mythos do, got into fights, made up, and left to go rejoin the Stars.

Historical Basis

The myth is actually rooted in a historical event. The Cycadians, their way of life, and their world were essetially started and created by super-powerful beings. No one really knows this though and it's a widely beleived fact that the Sisters were stars. If people believe the sisters were actually responsible for ask the myths say they were. There is a ton of historical evidence proving the existence of the sister's, at the very least. There are statutes and paintings of the sisters, and there are also many books written by the sisters. There's very little doubt that the sister's didn't actually exist. There's not much on the way of evidence to prove that the myths about them are true, however. Many argue that because of where Cycadia is located and all of its.... unique features, there's no way life could have developed without the help of super powerful beings. Others roll their eyes and say "life will find a way to form no matter what".

It is very common knowledge. Every Cycadian child is brought up in the Pleiades stories, and there are so many holidays and traditions rooted around them it's impossible not to be familiar with them.

Cultural Reception

Sooooo. The creation stories mean many different things, and while some of these things are different depending on Elemental type, most of them are the same.

ALL: this is a huge piece of our cultural and social history. It is literally one of the only things that no one argues over really. It gives then a sense of purpose and religion, almost.

Ice and Fire Elementals: This gives them justification for not trusting or really caring for Mist Elementals

In Literature

There is a big book literally every Cycadian has in their home. It's called The Pleiades, and it's essentially a cross between a fairy tale book and the Bible for these people. It's a collection of the most important myths related to the Seven Sisters, including the Creation Story.

In Art

There's ten different musical peices meant to tell the creation story though music. Some peoples in the Middle Territories perform dances or songs if it on Cyrin's Day.
