in The Divine

Gods are beings of immense power capable of miraculous feats. Though prayer and worship, many can directly connect to the divine essence that are these gods, granting them power to perform minor miracles or cast spells. Not all divine entities are known, and not all exist in every cycle.  

Origin God

The Original Creator. The First and Last. Mother of All. The Origin God is a mystery lost to all. While all religious sorts will worship the Origin God in some capacity, few embrace a life of servitude toward the Origin God. This is largely due to the near universal belief that she does not exist within the world anymore. It is believed that she left during the Birth Cycle.  

Embodied Gods

The direct creator gods of the world, said to have been birthed by the Origin God and then devoured her, or at least attempted to.  They are the first of the divine, first of form, and the ones of greatest worship. They are directly opposed by the Guardians, but do not necessarily work together either. Their power is vast and they are, by far, the most interactive of the gods, directly touching mortals who show strong devotion to them.  

Forsaken Gods

A collection of eight gods who rose to divinity by absorbing the life and spirit of their entire race in order to avoid the fate of the Nullium Scales, they are cursed with their own actions. Originally powerful mages, they attempted to circumvent destruction by a powerful ritual that would have allowed them to hide their race within a shell made by the gods, corruption and misunderstandings instead channeled the souls of their entire race into the eight mages, forever killing their race and bestowing them with divinity.  

Ascended Gods

Whether by virtue of the divine or by a bend in the fabric of reality, after the Forsaken Gods imbued themselves with divinity, others soon joined the ranks. In power, they are similar to the Forsaken, but are different. Mortals who are truly mythic in life, and who die in a burst of passion and purpose, have been witnessed erupt into pure divinity. Their worshipers tend to be limited to those that knew them in life, but they exist in the world and interact with mortals.
