Most of the records of the period were lost when the Orbis suffered apocalyptic-level destruction and many records, cities and the evidence of entire nations disappeared. What is known is mostly preserved from the underdark rather than the surface, telling of millennia when Drow remained a race clinging to goodness and freedom, allied with Gnomes and Dwarves; but the Lolth-worshipping Drow of later times demolished every record they found of those earlier times as well, making it truly an era of lost knowledge.
