Heirodule
Above even the Archbishops of the Imperial provinces, the five Heirodules not only provide supreme spiritual teachings, but as a group serve to validate the ascension of the Imperial Emperor, or Autarch, to power.
Qualifications
Appointed by the college of Archbishops, title held for life.
Requirements
Drawn from the ranks of Imperial Archbishops. Only the highest ranking Clerics of the Basilidean faith can achieve even the level of Bishop; beyond that all posts are awarded, not achieved.
Appointment
Upon the death or, in rare circumstances, dismissal of an existing Heirodule, the Collective of Archbishops convenes to appoint one of their own to the highest level.
Duties
Primarily, to confirm the investiture of a new Autarch; their daily duties are to serve as the highest arbitrators of questions, or legal cases, of faith.
