Boreath, officially the Kingdom of Boreath, is a country located in nothwest Cuendar. It receives water from the Gannet River, the mouth of which bisects the capital city of Peldor. The coast of Boreath is dominated by rocky fjords and the inland by fertile plains and forests. The climate is generally cool and rainy: so much so that Boreath is sometimes called the "Kingdom of Rain." It is currently ruled by Queen Vivia II.

Government and Succession

Boreath is a feudal monarchy. Like most of the River Kingdoms, it has retained the practice of meritocratic succession. Boreathine lords are appointed to their positions and given land grants by the ruling monarch on the basis of civil or military acclamation. The monarch's heir is usually also appointed in this way, though most monarchs still proclaim heirs from their own families. For example, Vivia II, the current queen, was the previous king's niece.

Demographics

Boreath's population is fairly diverse. Elves and half-elves who crossed over Emperor's Wall are commonly seen in both Peldor and in the northern villages of Perion and Tarn. Most humans in Boreath are either Mescáni People or Mariscine, but in Peldor there are also large Ilic and Vindari enclaves: mostly traders and whalers who decided to settle down and start families.

Salmon, fresh or cured, and keep the backbone for roasting. Cut into slices and cook in water and wine and salt. Serve with yellow pepper and cameline sauce and in pastry.

Economy and Trade

Boreath's economy is surprisingly varied. Agricultural settlements to the north produce much of the continent's fresh fruit, and Misty Plains in particular is known for its vineyards. Meanwhile, Peldar is an import and export hub for the north of the continent, bringing in Ilic and Vindari spices and crafts. Peldar is also a center of textile production and fishing activity. Fish commonly caught near Boreath include cod, salmon, and crab. Large quantities of Boreathine exports travel either south by the Sunlit Road or east by the Northern Trail.
