Scope
The motivation behind building Cthasia
Between 1999 and 2007, I worked at Waco ISD and began DMing for a small group of coworkers. We needed a place to call our own. We were tired of having to purchase the next book and things were just getting expensive. Cthasia: The Ohne Islands helped us have a place of our own.
Recently, I have moved back home and we started playing again. And, the players want to come home to Cthasia, too.
Additionally, I love to write. I love the idea of worldbuilding. Cthasia: The Ohne Islands provides an outlet for all the ideas that often just pop into my mind.
I look forward to developing Cthasia: The Ohne Islands.
The goal of the project
My worldbuilding project is an attempt to give me an outlet for my writing and to document the world for future D&D campaigns.
Using World Anvil, I have these goals:
- Document the world data I already have.
- Provide player access to world data.
- Invite others to participate in fleshing out this world.
- Provide a digital character sheet (In and Out of session).
Cthasia's Unique Selling point
Cthasia: The Ohne Islands provides players with a broad experience in many different climates and locations including seafaring.
Additionally, it allows players to have a unique experience without having to buy so many books.
Theme
Genre
Cthasia: The Ohne Islands is a world of heroic fantasy in the renaissance era. There's romance, action, adventure, and political intrigue.
Reader Experience
Cthasia: The Ohne Islands is terrifying and mystical. Player Characters can die at every move. Heroes don't live long--eventually, a mistake becomes their last. The rich history provides wonderful entertainment in the local tavern.
People believe in culture, language, and borders.
Reader Tone
Depending on the region, living on the Ohne Islands is pleasant as long as your safeguards are built. Wonderous things happen to people. But, beware, Orcs, Goblins, and other malcontents come out after dark and search for food and glory.
Skirmishes abound and traveling between regions is dangerous.
In general, Cthasia: The Ohne Islands is brighter than Game of Thrones--but not too bright.
Recurring Themes
There are some themes that throught out the world.
There are large bustling cities with deep political drama and underground black markets. Heroes are needed to help sort out the good from the bad.
There are tiny strongholds barely hanging on who need heroes to remove the local orc nests so that they can prosper.
Character Agency
Characters have the ability to shape the history of any region.
Focus
Religious influence
I will be outlining all the various religions on the Ohne Islands. The influence of specific religions wanes and flows depending on the beliefs of the region.
Cultural influence
Here, I'll be expanding upon how the culture of large capitols influence the people in each region.
Also, I'll be expanding on how history affects the culture.
Regional flora, fauna, and creatures.
In this focus point, I'll be developing appropriate flora, fauna, and creatures. This provides for random encounters when traveling and the availability of plant life for products.
Country capitols
I'd like to have some details determined for each countries capitols. I don't feel like I need deep details. Just a larger impression of each.
