Yberpede (Ih-bur-peed)

Made from centipedes, millipedes, and similar Insects, the various forms of the Yberpede have each proven a deadly foe for those that resist the Ybern's cybernetic evolution. They are most commonly used in Ybern defenses, as well as urban and other close quarter combat situations. Navies across the stars have learned a bloody lesson in fear and respect of Ybern boarding actions, as the Yberpede is a standard unit for them.   The difference between the Yberpede types is really just the size and weaponry equipped.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Beyond basic enhancements from assimilation, the most common change to to their anatomy and morphology is the modification of head, jaws, and converting a pair of legs into, or adding a pair of arms.

Genetics and Reproduction

Like all other Ybern, the Yberpedes do not reproduce naturally, they are created by assimilating those on non-Ybern worlds or clones created for assimilation.

Growth Rate & Stages

As Ybern entities, the Yberpedes only have two stages of growth. First is the Larva stage, in wich an entity is infected with the Cypberphage, and its duration varies between individuals. The second stage is the begins with the completion of the assimilation process and "ends" with a fully-fledged member of the Ybern race. They cease to age and suffer no effects from age prior to assimilation, rendering the effectively immortal.

Ecology and Habitats

The Yberpedes, like the rest of the Ybern race, have no natural ecosystem and habitat, and nigh irrevocably change or destroy all they encounter.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Since they recieve power and nourishment from internal functions, the Ybern have no dietary needs or habits.

Biological Cycle

The Ybern are effectively immortal, they are unaffected by the passage of time and do not suffer any effects from pre-asssimilation age.

Behaviour

The behaviors of the Yberpedes depends on the function. Those used defensively are docile until provoke, while those used offensively are aggressive to the point that they are placed in Stasis when not in use.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They possess the enhanced senses, and ability to detect energy inherent to the Ybern.  Additionally, like other Ybern, they can be modified or enhanced with additional sensory systems.   It should be noted, as a purely combat cyberform, the Yberpedes can detect, but not hack into and use wireless signals such as radio.
