Personal history

The tale of the Widow of the Waves begins long ago, before the Wars of Want and The Great Making. It begins with the wedding of a god and goddess, Elthivana and Fraftim are betrothed before their fellow deities and mortal followers. Time moved on and the love the two share created new life, bringing them much joy. Elthivana carried the pregnancy well, causing her no issue that wasn't dutifully seen to by Fraftim. Then it came time for the goddess of seas and storms to give birth, and Aichunn'cul* greeted the with a newborns cry.   As the child grows and he recieves tutelage from various gods and goddesses, but seems to particularly impress Edaxerlan. Both Elthivana and Fraftim are proud when Edaxerlan takes Aichunn'cul on as his apprentice. The boy proved to be both and excelent and eager student to the pleasure of teacher and parents alike. As Aichunn'cul grew from boy to young man, the Great Making occurred, and both Elthivana and Fraftim joined. It was not very long after than Kardioz and his Ruinous Powers brought the First War of Want to the World-That-Was.   Just as the other divines did, the lord and lady of storms lead their mortal forces into battle against the Fiends. It was Elthivana's will that Aichunn'cul avoid any combat in the war, though Fraftim convinced her that her that their son can help without fighting. Seeing her son helping with the warfront while adhereing to her wishes made her immensely proud. She eagerly waited word of her sons efforts if helping the sick and wounded, and was never disappointed when she did. The war eventually came to an end, with the All-Wanter captured and the Ruinous Powers in retreat.   With the war over, Elthivana and Fraftim spend some time with their son before he left to resume his tutelage under Edaxerlan. With bittersweet tears, the goddess and mother bade her son farewell. She knew it would not be forever, but still, what mother isn't nervous to see their child go. Fraftim stayed by her side, stoicly weathering an inner storm of sadness and pride for her. It was a great shock when Edaxerlan came to her and Fraftim, searching for the now missing Aichunn'cul.   Together with Edaxerlan, Elthivana and her husband searched for the missing Aichunn'cul. His teacher, the God or Light and Lord of Purification, was the first to discover the body. With a heart as heavy as the largest of stones, Edaxerlan delivered the decimating truth to parents near delirious with hope. Aichunn'cul's body looked to have been badly mauled by fiends, his torso and waist in multiple pieces. At his funeral, Elthivana wept for the last time, swearing to not for her son until vengeance found his murderer. It would not be long until the Second War of Want begana, bringing an opportunity for vengeance with it, from her point of view.   Elthivana moved to leads her peoples to battle, while Fraftim stays behind to oversee the more logistal needs of their peoples' war efforts. Fierce fighting consumed every front the war with both sides seeming evenly matched. In time the Ruinous Powers began to gain an upperhand in the war. A particularly vicious attack from what was a defended supply line prompted Elthivana to return home. What she found dismayed her, everything was a nearly incomprehensible jumble with next to no leadership from Fraftim. Only the efforts of his direct subordinates prevented a total collapse into chaos.   Elthivana found her husband locked away in their home, to be seen and seeing no one. Though it was not physically violent, the fury that their meeting caused her raged more tempestuously than any storm. The fury of barely held emotions causes storm winds to howl, obscuring words whispered and spoken while lighting struck and thunder pealed with every shout and scream. Finally the storm died down as the voices of the husband and wife fell silent. Every follower of the god and goddess waited in silence, anxiety rose higher than the sun as the moments dragged on.   Finally the doors of the throneroom opened. Slowly Fraftim left the chamber, only the sounds of silent sobbing and solemn footfalls filled the vacuous silence. Fraftims' only words were to call for those that would follow him. Elthivana remained alone in the throneroom until Fraftim and his followers left, speaking to others only to be informed when he did. When she had finally collected herself, she sent word to her fellow gods and goddesses, informing them of Fraftims' betrayal before eventually returning to the fight against the Ruinous Powers.   Despite throwing mind, body, and soul into the war effort, Elthivana knew the overall state of the war in the favor of the foe. Like the others, she knew the Great Crystal Project was their best hope against the Fiends, but like the others, she had no idea what their activation would cause. Once that happened, she led her forces to what was her and Fraftims' him. She fell into a deep depression, leaving her peoples to secure and repair their realm alone. Despite the gloom clouding her mind, the hope and prayers of her peoples helped her to find the strength to help them.   In time, Elthivana's depression seemed to fade, becoming a fuel waiting to be ignited by the heat of rage. Her realm had seen a slow recovery that had pick up speed once she joined her peoples' efforts. This resurgence in prosperity and semblance of peace would not last long. A vast horde of undead began an assault upon her realm, believed to be fiendish in origin. Though it would and could not shake her thirst for righteous vengeance, the goddess reveled into the breaking of the foul and the damned.   It was not long after the start of the fight against the walking dead that a new side of effect of the Great Crystals' activation. Like the other celestials and fiends, Elthivana began to fade from the settling materium into the newborn spirit world of Roth'eld'wor. Despite this development, she continued to lead her people in losing battle. Fate seemed to have greater plans for the storm goddess and her people. Salvation came in a twilight dusk, between brightest and darkest night.   Both the gods of light and darkness came to bring salvation to the living and divine sanction against the undead. Vengeful storms blasted them to bits while searing light scoured them from the existence and every shadow hungrily ate every mobile corpse that passed into them. The horde was destroyed in full and Elthivana's people were saved. Though not much could be spared, the goddess sent what help she could to both gods in thanks. This would unintentionally ensure vital future aliances.   The march of time continued ever inescapably forward, bringing the gods to fully fade into Roth'eld'wor. Though she now must interact with the materium through the proxy of Crystal King Elthivana, the Goddess of the Sea and Storms did not surrender her coming vengeance. Like her fellow gods and fallen husband, she prepares for when the end arrives.   When Gadmorenda comes, she would not be found wanting.
