Crystal Islands

After the disaster known as the Split, all that remained was a single floating island. The island, commonly known as Crystal Island, is about 5200 square miles (8370 square kilometers). Occasionally, smaller islands called atolls rise from the layer of clouds below the Crystal Island called the Abyss. Each of the smaller islands that appear can range from 40 to 200 square miles. After some time, usually when the energy in the island's crystal runs out, the island falls back into the abyss.   The crystal island has a population of about 647,000 people. It's population is mostly in its three main cities: Crystal City, Trekonila, and Strupidia. These three cities operate as the capitals of the Fusirini, Trekonila, and Strupidia regions. Between the cities, they sometimes skirmish to declare boundaries, but are mostly peaceful to each other and trade resources.   In the center of Crystal Island, there is a huge cave. This cave, known as Crystal Cavern, contains a huge crystal that is filled with Crystal Energy, as well as smaller crystals that contain less energy. It is commonly believed that the energy contained in the crystal is what keeps Crystal Island afloat. This cavern is heavily protected by the government   The island has three seasons, each defined by an agricultural harvest. There are three months, one to each season, and three months per year.
