Personal history
Being the son of a blacksmith, and a lover of books, Vaun has dreamed of becoming a knight for his entire life. That dream was set in stone when he was 7 years old, when a travelling Scintilla showed him an illusion of him as a knight.
Unfortunately, Vaun tore his meniscus shortly after being taken as the squire of a local knight called Sir Olsen. He became bitter and increasingly more awful to his family. Over the next several months, he was on a downward spiral of self-pity and self-loathing that made him lash out at everyone.
That was stopped when Arlan Howlis came and invited him into the Academy of Transcendental Learning.
