Academy of Transcendental Studies (Building)
A building situated on the border of two baronies, in a former no-man's land. The first magic school in the world.
Purpose / Function
The Academy is there to teach young people magic, but also to teach them to be better, more moral, more responsible people.
Architecture
The Academy is gigantic in size. It has two large wings that, together with the main body and the massive wrought iron front fence, enclose a massive courtyard adorned with meticulously trimmed trees and hedges, along with porcelain-white fountains and dark iron lamp posts, all criss-crossed by marble flagstone paths going in and out of the full-length porticos on the front of both wings, as well as the entrance of the main building.
The structure itself is made of a brilliantly white stone. Titanic pillars adorn the porticos and two even larger ones are on both sides of the arches leading to the main entrance, towering all the way to the roof, which is covered in dark teal tiles, broken up by several protruding windows on the front, as well as imposing chimneys.
History
The Academy was founded in a location situated between the lands of two barons. This land was infamous for being impossible to hold, as it was overrun with bandits, but Arlan Howlis made a deal with the barons and the king that he would be able to tame the land, and in exchange he would be given a small part of it where he would build the Academy.
