Arius has been a wizard longer than most have lived. Though his sight faded with age until he was completely blind, he's learned to use magic to get around the world. He is even more keenly aware of his surroundings now than he was when he relied on sight.
Often mistaken for a member of Verita, Arius has actually been studying and practicing magic long before its founding. In fact, he was offered the position of Dean of the Order first, but turned it down, because he saw it as limiting, and taking time away from his personal research, which focuses on the lost magics of the Orelanthian Empire.
