Personal history
Alton Weatherbee was born in Delano City in the Glencroft mountains. Unlike many dwarves, Alton never found comfort deep in the mines, and would instead spend the days of his youth outside in the sun. With the help of his father and older brothers, Alton built an open air workshop outside the city. He started tinkering with simple machines, infusing them with magic the way his father had taught him.
On his 120th birthday, he decided to leave the mountains and see the world. He made his way south to the lakeside town of Novia, and was surprised to find that people found his little magic machines wondrous. He sold some of his inventions and made quite a lot of gold. He even made some custom machines for wealthy people who were enamored by his creations. He left Novia a rich man himself, and continued south.
He reached as far as Humbolt, on his way to the large city of Velsia, when he met Sandon Woeshade, the captain of the night guard. Sandon was a jocular, jovial fellow, and Alton quite liked his company. He offered to create some magic machines that could help Humbolt's milling industry as well as its defenses. While working on these machines, Sandon came to him with a proposal. He and a few other friends would pose as merchants headed for Velsia in order to find some bandits who were robbing travelers outside Humbolt. It sounded like a bit of fun to Alton, who hadn't been in a real scrap in years.
They would, in fact, get attacked, and Alton and the party would capture and interrogate one of the bandits, which led them on the first of many adventures, starting with finding and defeating the Black Hound. As Alton was from the kingdom of Delikor, he was their guide through the Glencroft mountains to the frozen wastelands of the north. Alton would adventure with Sandon and the rest of the party until they decided to disband. Alton bought a workshop in Loyalton where he's constantly building new magical inventions and still has a close relationship with the Woeshades.
