Palan Ranger

The Palan Rangers were created ages ago as a means of controlling the Lar Voyattara , The Unnatural Things- a collective name for the wild beasts and mystical haunts that were unleashed on the interior of Palan Voyd. They are charged with patrolling the outskirts of civilization and tracking down anything that may come out from Low Palan, the name given to the lowlands that form the inner portions of the continent.
They are the toughest of the Voy Diurne, a race not known for militarism, and yet have all the wisdom that the Voy are famous for. Through study and thought they are able to know the finer details of The Unnatural Things. They are charismatic like the other Voy but since they spend so much time alone that often becomes eccentrics. When those two traits are combined in a never ending battle against the evils of the Lar Voyattara, the Rangers tend to be an odd lot.
The term Palan Rangers is actually a borrowed word from the Rennon. For almost a thousand years the Voy Diurne lived with the horrors they created as a sort of punishment for their meddling with the natural order. Soon after the Rennon conquered Palan Voyd they forced the Voy to create the Rangers primarily to protect Rennon industrial interests.
There are a handful of Lasskyr soldiers of fortune that have become Palan Rangers but they are fairly rare.
