The Court of Wizards

On the surface, the Court of Wizards is dedicated to spreading magical education to aspiring spell-casters all around the world. However, this is only one layer of the organization. The next layer comes from the fact that the Court of Wizards has a monopoly on war materials (weapons, armor, artillery, etc). They do not want to be associated with these products, and as such use multiple different companies to sell these goods, and leaves their own name out of any transactions. What the world sees is many different wartime companies all competing with one another. No one knows that they all belong to the Court. The last layer comes from the fact that the more powerful members of the Court of Wizards are advisers for many of the world's leaders. Unfortunately, these members are more aligned with the Court than with their own country, and have no ethical quandries with manipulating their lieges. Their manipulation has lead to the Court having permission to create expensive colleges of magic almost anywhere, the funding being mostly provided by the sovereign themself, and permission to drive away any competitors that might pose a problem. Perhapse worst of all, these advisors have manipulated kings and queens throughout the ages to go to war with one another. This is to make a scenario where they could plug one of their wartime companies to the sovereign in question, and try to get them to negotiate with said companies for war materials. Due to the way things are set up, they would have no idea that they would be buying from the Court of Wizards. All the while, the Court would be recieving considerable amounts of money. In conclusion, the Court of Wizards is a greedy, dishonest, and manipulative corporation. Their lust for money and power has lead to countless wars and endless amounts of death throughout history, not to mention their underhanded business tactics and overly expensive education system. Sadly, no one who has found out the truth has lived long enough to tell anybody about it.
