Apophia
Long has this Empire stood the test of time and still it has not faded. Founded in ancient times long before the Dwarves would appear in Zelltross, the Yuan-ti Civilization would grow from scattered desert enclaves and quaint river folk along the Nehe River into a Empire driven by Tradition, Religion, and a sense of Self Superiority. Even in the Beginnings they waged war on those not of their kind. The Djinn Lords that came to plunder this realm where the first to feel their new fangs as they allied themselves with the Dragons to cast them out of Covenant. Afterwards many a desert tribe and small kingdom of humans, Orc, and Dragonborn would find their ruin against the fledgling empire and become slaves to fuel their growing machine.
Though overall Apophia saw itself as superior it often would trade with other nations, as well as spy on them, The Dwarves of Urgnor, The Eladrin, and their Descendants were often lucrative trading partners to the Empire. This tenuous peace kept for centuries until a newer more radical religious order began to take hold. From Beyond three Serpent gods would appear and begin to hold sway over the hearts of the Yuan-ti taking the spot of the Old Serpent Nehe. A religious fervor would grow and grow Until they invaded the Fledgling Dwarven Outpost of Zanaosta, this would spark a continent spanning war known as the War of Ruin. This would ultimately become the Empires first ever major defeat as the Forces of the Bronze-Stone Alliance would force the Empire into surrendering and pushing them back behind the Blue Feather Mountains which form the Western Boarder of Apophia today. In the Years following the Empire would begin to restructure several times over, each ruler leaning away from war and more towards economic domination. The Favor of the Old Serpent gods began to fade and a dozen new gods found their way into Apophia. Slavery would transition into indentured servitude in name and practice and despite a near incident in Year 356 that nearly devolved into a Civil War, the Empire was at peace with its neighbors, but trouble still brews beneath its sands.
