The Prethoryn Scourge

The Prethoryn Scourge was an extragalactic invasion from a hive mind designated the Preythoryn. Invading through the outer rims of the galaxy, the Scourge was kept at bay for a long time before finally being defeated, albeit at a heavy price.

During the War in Heaven, several UFN tracking stations picked up peculiar subspace echoes coming from somewhere in intergalactic space. Many dismissed these as anomalies of the War in Heaven, but with each passing year, the echoes were getting stronger, and it was surmised that the source was approaching the Milky Way. Even after the end of the War in Heaven, the echoes continued to grow and seemed to approach the outer rim of the galaxy.   Eventually, the UFN received reports of several systems in the outer rim being overrun by an invasive force. It was confirmed that the invasion force was indeed the entities from interspace emitting the subspace echoes, and that this was only a vanguard force, with the main body yet to arrive. Reports from fleeing refugees would tell of these eldritch entities; their entirety organic in nature.   Nearly a year later, the main group arrived, revealing a much larger force. The Prethoryn Scourge would attempt to feed on the entire galaxy before moving on to the next galaxy. Barely holding their forces at bay, a new order consisting of the survivors from the initial invasion would form to fight back against the Preythoryn. The Sentinel Order consisted of battle-hardened veterans, scientists, and survivors with the goal of ending the threat of the Prethoryn. Their insight into the anatomical weakness of the Prethoryn as well as their own experience against them would finally push back the Scourge, eventually exterminating them.
