UTF-Templar Brotherhood War

The UTF–Templar Brotherhood War marked the final and most explosive confrontation of the Interplanetary Secessionist Wars era. The conflict was waged between the United Terran Federation (UTF) and a newly unified threat—the Templar Brotherhood (TB), composed of surviving elements of the Templars and the Brotherhood of Nod. Having gone underground following the Callisto Armistice of 2332, these remnants infiltrated the UTF military, civil administration, and industrial systems. Their endgame: the complete destruction of the UTF, the deindustrialization of Earth, and the establishment of a new Templar-led order across the Solar System.

The Shadow War and Rise of the TB

Following their military defeat and political disbandment, the scattered remnants of the Templars and Brotherhood went dark, abandoning formal operations in favor of deep infiltration. Over a period of years, they embedded themselves in UTF society, gaining positions in logistics, intelligence, research, and even the armed forces. Adopting the moniker of the Templar Brotherhood, they launched a campaign of low-intensity proxy warfare—funding pirates and raiders, conducting terror attacks, and disrupting supply lines during the UTF’s concurrent war with House Va’ruun during the Serpent’s Crusade.   One of the TB’s earliest direct provocations occurred 18 hours before the Geneva Attack. An TB unit raided a UTF Research Facility on Europa, seeking to capture a prototype weapon designated F-SPAR. UTF airforce special force SCAR Team Seven was deployed to destroy the prototype and prevent its acquisition. Though they succeeded, all members of the team were executed following capture. The Templar Brotherhood raised their flag over Europa and formally announced their re-emergence.   Despite these warnings, UTF High Command remained passive, proceeding with Fleet Day celebrations.

The Geneva Attack and Invasion

The UTF's annual Fleet Day Parade, held in Geneva, was to be a moment of triumph and public unity. Instead, it became a massacre. An embedded TB sleeper agent took control of the Anti-Aircraft Terrestrial Iron Shield (AATIS) defense grid and reprogrammed it to target UTF ships. Within minutes, the skies over Geneva were filled with debris as the fleet was obliterated from within.   Simultaneously, a Templar Brotherhood fleet, which had subjugated Mars and commandeered its military forces, jumped into Earth orbit and began deploying troops. The UTF’s military headquarters in Geneva came under orbital and ground bombardment. Civilians and military personnel alike were slaughtered as chaos spread across the city.   Despite overwhelming losses, UTF forces rapidly regrouped. A combined counteroffensive by SCAR units and Marine ground forces succeeded in recapturing the AATIS systems and neutralizing the sleeper agent. As the TB fleet attempted to retreat, the remaining eight UTF capital ships gave chase. The final act of the battle came when the Olympus Mons, the Templar Brotherhood’s dreadnought, emerged from Slipstream Space and attacked, using the F-SPAR weapon to destroy six UTF destroyers.   Only two UTF capital ships remained operational: the destroyer Tigris and the carrier Retribution. In a desperate maneuver, the Retribution collided with the Olympus Mons, crippling it and forcing its retreat.

The Wakandan Police Action and Colonel Tetchu’s Rebellion

In parallel with the Geneva assault, Colonel Edward Tetchu—a celebrated UTF officer who had led campaigns during the Rainforest Wars and the Saharan Insurgency—revealed himself as an TB loyalist. He declared martial law across East Africa, with New Mombasa as his capital. Initially dismissed, his threats became credible when members of the 3rd Brigade ambushed and massacred UTF forces from the 4th Brigade.   Rebellion erupted across Central and West Africa in support of Tetchu. UTF forces were drawn into a brutal three-month campaign to retake the region. Tetchu’s headquarters, heavily fortified, resisted multiple attacks. Ultimately, UTF special forces breached the complex via underground tunnels, capturing the colonel as he attempted to flee.   Tetchu’s trial was broadcast across the system, becoming one of the most watched events of the 24th century. Though he used the platform to attack the UTF’s legitimacy, he was found guilty of high treason and sentenced to life imprisonment. Dishonorably discharged, he later died of a stroke at the age of 82 in his homeland of Cameroon.

Operation Port Armor

Another key engagement occurred on the Moon during Operation Port Armor. The TB launched an offensive to seize the critical Gateway Port, a refueling and fleet-repair nexus. Troops from the Retribution launched a counterattack, retaking the gateway after intense fighting. A SCAR team boarded the TB warship SDS Ares Vallis, disabling its systems and killing the captain. The Tigris later destroyed the ship with coordinated orbital fire.

Collapse of the TB and the End of the War

Though the TB scored several tactical victories—including the near-total annihilation of the UTF fleet and the decapitation of the Geneva command structure—they failed to achieve their strategic goals. The UTF held the line on Earth, bought time to rebuild, and ultimately shattered the Templar Brotherhood’s ability to project power.   A critical blow came from a Trojan Horse operation using the captured Olympus Mons. UTF commandos sabotaged the dreadnought, guiding it into the TB’s orbital shipyard above Mars. The resulting destruction crippled their ability to build or repair ships at scale.   With Earth secured and Mars weakened, the UTF launched a multi-month campaign to liberate the planet. The remnants of the Templar Brotherhood were hunted down, their surviving leadership captured or killed. Without fleet strength or planetary bases, the Brotherhood ceased to exist as a functional threat.   The UTF–Templar Brotherhood War ended not with ceremony, but exhaustion. It marked the final end of the Interplanetary Secessionist Wars era—a decisive blow against the remnants of the old world’s ideologies and the cementing of the United Terran Federation as the dominant force in human space.
