Templin-Keppe
Templin-Keppe is an American multinational conglomerate headquartered in Manhattan in the United American Republic. In 2781 Templin-Keppe was ranked among the Fortune 1000 as the largest company in the Milky Way by gross revenue, the fourth most profitable and largest by number of employees excluding certain state-owned enterprises.
The company comprises numerous affiliated businesses, most of them operating under the Templin-Keppe brand. As of 2786 the company is organized into 12 separate primary business units. Each unit is itself a vast enterprise many of which would rank in the Fortune 1000 as standalone companies. The list of Templin-Keppe business units has varied over time as the result of reorganizations, acquisitions and divestitures.
Notable Templin Keppe affiliates include Templin Keppe Terraforming, the Milky Way’s single largest terraforming company in terms of both revenue and market value, Templin-Keppe Industrial, the seventh largest shipbuilding company (measured in 2779 revenues) and Templin-Keppe Capital, which includes amongst it’s subsidiaries some of the largest banks in the Milky Way by total assets.
Templin-Keppe was founded in New York City in 2367 by Charles Templin and Sam Keppe. At the time, the company was focused primarily on financial services. It provided commercial lending and leasing as well as specialized services for commercial aviation and energy sectors.
Throughout the remainder of the 24th century the company achieved some success and expanded into the power-generation field and later computing and telecommunications. In 2397 Templin Keppe was one of several companies awarded government contracts by the United Federation of Nations as part of Operation Marathon. Between 2400 and 2471 the company constructed over 13,000 atmospheric processors and became the global leader in terraforming technology.
In the first half of the 25th century Templin Keppe began an aggressive pivot into the aerospace industry, forming Templin Keppe Aerospace and acquiring Queen Materials, Titan International and founding TK-GE, a joint-stock company with General Electric. Templin Keppe would be heavily involved in the Alpha Centauri project and later in terraforming numerous worlds across the United Federation of Nations and the Milky Way.
Controversy
Templin Keppe has faced increased scrutiny in recent years as the company has moved into funding various independent colonization efforts in the Far Frontier as well as it’s acquisition of several private military companies. The complete disappearance of every settler in the Templin Keppe sponsored Three Saints colony has grown into an enduring mystery and there are many rumors that Templin-Keppe is either withholding information on what happened, or was perhaps responsible for it themselves. The role of private enterprise in funding independent colonies is a controversial issue though, and the majority regard these accusations as nothing more than fear-mongering on the part of the opposition. In a report leaked to several independent news outlets, it was revealed that several intelligence agencies including the FIM and Spectres are investigating Templin-Keppe activates in the Far Frontier. The exact details of what exactly is being investigated is unknown.Structure
