Iumi is a world with cold temperatures everywhere, at all times. When humans colonized the planet in year, they genetically modified people and animals to be able to handle the arctic plain. The genetic modification shows up as leopard spots on hair and skin for humans and fur for animals; the pattern is a reference to the snow leopard, an animal of Earth.
The culture of Iumi is simple and folksy. Residents of Iumi are known as Iumins.
