Guildhouse of the Mariners

Purpose / Function

The Guildhouse of the Mariners acts as a home base for those working in any sea-based career in Nethlir. Sailors, fishermen, and those in Nethlir's navy can all take refuge at the guildhouse. Many of the guild members worship Alios, a raelor who domain is over the sea, fishing, and spring. As a result, the guildhouse is also one of the primary locations in Nethlir for non-magical healing, especially with the long absence of Melia, another raelor who domain is over healing. This makes it a very popular location for the average citizen in need of any kind of surgical procedure, as magical healing is rare and quite expensive.

History

The guildhouse started out as a small fishing shack, amongst many other similar structures scattered around the lake. As more and more people showed up to fish along the lake, the shack was expanded over time to create a home for not only the growing number of fisherman in the area, but also for many who needed access to the rivers flowing out of the lake to reach the sea. Eventually the guildhouse also became a popular location for those practicing medicine, due to the large water source nearby and waters association with healing. While the guildhouse is the primary structure around the lake, the Guild of Mariners also owns many of the nearby surrounding buildings, many of which operate as vacation housing and so over time the presence of the guildhouse has made this area a very popular vacation spot in Nethlir as well.

Tourism

While travel is rare in Corvisia, the guildhouse is a popular location in Nethlir for those who do dare to leave their homes. It is a popular location for those who are looking for some peace at sea. Fishermen travel to the guildhouse frequently to either fish off the docks or board a boat to go out on the nearby lake. Many immigrants to Nethlir will also join its military and those who choose the navy will end up here often when not at sea. Ordinary civilians from all over Nethlir, and sometimes even Lenedell, will come to the guildhouse for surgical procedures.
