One Nodum Government (Know-Dum)

Structure

The One Nodum Government is a confederation made up of the 8 nations (Saffum) of Nodum, built around East Agium and their scientific supremacy.
There are two levels to the ONG, the Executive Council and the Deliberation Chamber.

Executive Council

The higher level of government in the ONG. The EC is made up of 10 people:

1. The President of the ONG Executive Council: The current elected leader of the ONG. The President oversees the Council, is the public face and voice of the ONG, and has final approval over all new bills, laws and policies
2. The Chairnod of the Council: The Chair oversees the Deliberation Chamber, liaisons between the Council and Chamber, advises the President and handles direct concerns from the National Ambassadors
3. The Eight Ambassadors: The Eight nations of Nodum still exist, though with much diminished individual influence and power. Their interests are represented by 8 Ambassadors, often but not always the leader of their respective nation, who are responsible for ensuring the interests of their Nods are protected by the unified government. They also oversee their elected representatives in the Deliberation Chamber.

The Deliberation Chamber

The lower level of government, and where most work is done. The Chamber has 98 members, 13 from East Agium and the United Nodea of Freethinking Nods (UNFN), and 12 from the other 6 nations. The Chamber, as the name suggests, deliberate on new laws, policies and ideas that affect both Nodum and the Nod society. The Chairnod oversees the Chamber. There are several political groups within the Chamber.

• Together as Nod Party: The traditionally majority party within the ONG prior to the War of Devastation. The Together Party, as they are commonly called, advocates for the continued growth and prosperity of Nodum under one government. They believe that all Nods are equal in potential, and therefore equal in value, and often push policies that, while costly, promote the idea that Nodkind should spread across the galaxy and that the farthest colonist is just as valuable as a Nodum-born
• Council of Prosperous Nods: The former opposition party prior to the War of Devastation, the CPN gained popularity among native-born Nods as more and more colonies were founded. The CNP believed that Nodum and the Nods born on the planet which birthed the species were superior to the colonists, who would have or will become changed over time as they adapt to the new planets and moons they called home. The party became the majority party prior to the War, and helped found the Alliance of Prosperous Societies.
• The Separatists Union: A small party of representatives who wished to legally dismantle the ONG and return to seperate nations. The SU was almost exclusively made up of representatives from the Isle of Eamit.
• The Independent Party: a loose conglomerate of representatives who don't fully fit any other existing faction

Culture

While each of the eight Nod nations kept their unique cultures, a few ideas unified the people of the ONG. Primarily, science and the pursuit of knowledge was very important to Nodkind, regardless of nationality. In fact, most wars were prior to unification were not fought over territory or ideology, but for resources and information.
Romantic relationships in the ONG were monogamous, but if a couple couldn't conceive together, it was not considered unusual for a third Nod to join a family unit for the purposes of having children.

Public Agenda

Regardless of which party was the majority within the ONG, the mandate of the government remained unchanged; preserve the growth and future of Nodkind.

History

East Agium, the scientific superpower of Nodum, and the UNFN, the military leader of the world, formed an alliance that create peace on Nodum and send Nods into the far reaches of space. All other nations agreed to the union, save for the Isle of Eamit, Ritsplishum and West Agium, who formed their own Union and prepared for war. What followed was the Fourth Global Conflict, which was responsible for the deaths of 30% of all Nods. After the war, which saw the surrender of the Isle of Eamit to the Agium-UNFN Alliance, a single global government was founded with the express goal to end Nod conflict.
ONG colonized the moons of Nodum, Seren and Tiann in 3055 and 3052 respetecivly, and the neighbouring planet of Nupra in 3041.

Disbandment

The ONG was rendered nearly pointless by the destruction of Nodum in 455 BFP. While the ONG persisted afterwards in the shape of the Nod contingent in the greatly weakened Alliance of Prosperous Societies and the many smaller Nod factions across Corrum, there was no longer a Nodum to govern.
