Foreman

The Foreman Konrad Elric

Appearance

A middle-aged man with a salt-and-pepper beard, sunken sleepless eyes, and a scruffy scalp where brown hair once grew. He moves constantly, always carrying a notebook, a cheroot tucked in his vest, but rarely with flint strikers.
  • The Foreman is never still, constantly inspecting projects, consulting charts, and giving orders while puffing on his unlit cheroot.
  • His wide-brimmed straw hat and basket of plans make him a familiar sight, though he’s often absent when most needed.
  • Despite his gruff look, his unexpectedly friendly voice can catch people off guard, though his careless words may sting.
  • Known for sleeping in hammocks under tarps, The Foreman prefers the outdoors to the cramped quarters of camp.
  • He’s deeply concerned about missing workers but refuses to send more men into danger, preferring to hire outsiders to resolve the issue.
  --- Notes
  • A middle aged man, younger than he appears with his sleepless eyes, a salt-and-peppered beard and a scruffy scalp, where a full head brown locks of hair would otherwise be.
  • An aggressive listener, and observer, one hand always writing in a notebook held in the other, a cheroot always nearby, but never, its seems, any flint strikers.
  • Speaks in an unexpectly friendly voice which cuts like a counterpoint to a dour visage - words are often careless but always sincere.
  • Pours deeply from the bottle, perhaps too often, and likely to find a camp hammock and a tarp more comfortable than a bed under a roof.
C-38 Troll Bridge
  • A great relief to see in camp, though his stays are always short lived - he holes up near the supply tents when needs demand sleep or food
  • Otherwise, he is constant motion under a wide brimmed straw hat, moving from site to site with a basket full of charts and plans, and a pair of porters carrying other necessities for the tradesman
  • Concerned about the reports of the missing crewmen at the chasm worksite but has no intention of sending more into danger - he seeks adventurers to help find answers and has left orders for the Quartermaster to those ends.
  C-49 Prospector's Camp
  • Intrigued at the prospect of the matierials industrial applications, the foreman has agreed to hire a crew to construct the sleuces needed to divert the runnoff water as well as the sumps and drains needed for the mine
  • The difficulty of finding workers for the job is inly compounded by the need for discretion and secrecy
  • Seeking a quartermaster to secure materials, and a supplier to deliver them to the depot camp below the foothills is also proving difficult
  • Instead, he has relied on on site tradesment to resolve their supply problems; foresters to fulfill the need for timber and masons to supply the stone needed to reinforce the mines
  • The work is slow and the foremans constant absence is a sore point of irritation to the Prospector.
Design Notes A curious coincidence and future Plath quest giver
  • Haha, this one came from work; another engineer had been trying to track me down to give me some money for a retirement gift I picked up for my old boss who is leaving this week. Unintentionally, every time he stopped by my office, he just missed me. This went on a few times a day for almost week until we were both at a meeting and he told me he seriously thought I was trying to avoid him.
  • I thought this might make an interesting scenario, where PCs didnt need to find the foreman, or have a reason to find the foreman, but after NOT running into him a suspicious number of times, that might lock in the foreman into their memory for a hook once they arrive at Plath.
