Orcus
Prince of Undeath
He began his rise to power in Thanatos, the layer that his mother controlled. While he saw himself as the rightful heir of Thanatos, no other demon did. He quickly proved his worth after patrolling the cold dunes of Thanatos, slaying anyone weaker than him and raising them from the dead to join his growing army. Not only did his power grow, but also his size. Soon after his first birthday he was already 8 feet tall and commanded a small army of undead demons. It took many more years to cultivate his necromantic abilities and his forces, but once he was powerful enough, he led a crusade across the layer, killing any who dared stand in the way and bringing them into the fold. The demon who had usurped control of Thanatos upon Orcus's mother's death, a human-esque creature named Chiranseal, was the last foe that had to be dealt with. However, Orcus realized the raw power that Chiranseal wielded. He grievously wounded her, but instead of killing her, he ripped the spine and skull out of her still living body. He then suffused the spine with powerful undeath magic, which when mixing with Chiranseal's already vast supply of power, created a powerful weapon.
Over the next many, many years, Orcus moved across the layers of the Abyss, continuing his crusade. This caused every other demon lord to grow a heavy resentment towards him, though he cared little. Though he hated his father and wished to kill him, any time that he could brag about his celestial heritage, he would. He saw himself above the common pureblooded demons that permeated the Abyss. His scorn was not just for his father and his half-siblings, but also for anything and everything that lived. He saw life as a grim mockery of himself, which was, of course, unacceptable and must be eradicated.
Orcus's crusades continued until Gromph Baerne, with the help of Lloth, completed a ritual to bring the demon lords into Corian. Orcus found himself deep within the Underdark near a mind flayer colony. After raising its elder brain back from the dead, he took control over the entire colony.
