The clan operates out of very secure compounds in the two cities. The clan has developed its own fleet of secure wagons built to make robbery difficult. The clan employs only the most reliable forces to guard its caravans, often employing Alyites.

Public Agenda

Make big profits and stay friendly with the nobles that control the Great North road. Retaliate arad against anyone who steals form them.

Assets

The clan has two headquarters complexes which are walled compounds with elegant housing for family members, more mundane housing for employees, warehouses and secure storage vaults. The clan owns some twenty wagons designed to secure their goods against theft and has a large number of horses and oxen for transport purposes. The clan has a large fortune split between the their residences and various banking houses.

History

The clan started a modest trading business some forty years ago under the late Varris Zolkos who started out as a merchant in cloth and dyes. Over time he began to move limited quantities of high value goods such as diamonds and jade. While Varris continued to move bulk goods he steadily increased his business moving high valuable items. At age 50 Varris was killed in an avalanche on the Great North Road and the business was taken over by his two eldest children Garro and Arella. The two siblings have pursued a highly effective strategy of setting up permanent bases at the two main points in their trade network and have placed members of their extended family in offices in several northern and southern cities that are important supply sources or outlets for their network. They have worked hard to intermarry with important noble and merchant families on both sides of the Spine and make regular gifts to important nobles and government officials to protect their trade.
