The Tenoctem (Ten-Oct-Tem)
A group shrouded in mystery until more recent years, The Tenoctem is a fanatic cult of worshipers to the Ancient Deity Tokirochi, Converga's god of time. Unlike many of the devout groups to the gods of Converga, it is unclear as to whether The Tenoctem interact with Tokirochi himself or simply bend and manipulate pieces of his power that permeate the land.
It's said The Tenoctem formed around the time of the Convergence, as there are no existing records of the group before that time. While their primary prescence is in the Dark Zone, members have also ventured outside of these boundaries to acquire "chosen" individuals to be used as "Temporal Vessels". Anyone chosen as a Temporal Vessel is given the Tenoctem's brand, amplifying their perception of time beyond the present manifested as Oracle-like gifts. However, both the brand itself and the subsequent powers pose a great threat to the Vessel. The intensity of the brand's burn is said to have killed many potential oracles through pain and shock alone. As a result, an increased number of fire-resistant races were selected for the kidnappings, most notably the Dark Zone Tiefling population due to their proximity and natural demon-blooded resistances. Many that were not killed by the brand were instead driven mad by the sheer amount of temporal vision opened up to them, their mind unable to process all that is while also viewing glimpses of what is to come.
While few in number, a successfully completed Temporal Vessel wields a peerless mortal power to see beyond time. These seer abilities hold great potential, but are typically used for the Tenoctem's gain by preempting events that have yet to come and striking at the perfect time. These individuals also strike fear into their foes through their advanced knowledge in combat, for how does one fight another who can see their every move?
Structure
The Tenoctem is led by a singular leader, the Grand Overseer. Typically possessing temporal powers of their own, the Overseer commands and controls the entirety of the cult through distribution of their powers through lackeys, ensuring that they are always present in some form. Any time-based magics not found in Temporal Vessels typically stems from the Grand Overseer's well of power.
Granted Divine Powers
Both the Grand Overseer and any converted Temporal Vessels have access to a section of Time Magic that they may wield. However, as this falls under Ancient Magics (due to their affiliation with Tokirochi), these spells pose inherent risks to the caster. These risks are mitigated by the Grand Overseer through passing them off to their devoted, driving them further insane.
