Titan Elysia Myth in Colossus | World Anvil

Titan Elysia

We all know the constellations brought about the Creator Titans. In what order is theorized all over Colossus. However what is known is Elysia was the last to be. The constellation Calleth’Ulan the Soul Light placed an egg among the stars that shone brightly, not a twinkle but a persistent glow of radiant light. What is known as the first breath or to some the soul breath was given to this radiant egg.   From it crawled an entity that the other titans considered lowly and with mocking only accepted them as the tenth titan. Calleth’Ulan named the newborn titan Elysia. For a time they did nothing but crawl and drag themselves awkwardly about the stars, forever trying to claim a spot within Colossus to call theirs.   They were blocked at every chance by the other titans. Elysia lay saddened within their bed of the twinkling void beyond. There was never truly a moment for them to rest as being pure radiant energy never gave a moment of welcomed darkness. So they went looking for it, crawling and dragging themselves.   Those races that had already begun taking foot on Colossus would look up and in the night sky sometimes see what they called a Slow Star, to them it was as a shooting star moving very slowly, little did they know they were witnessing the hard work of a hindered titan.   Eventually they found it, Elysia found what they were looking for. A star it seemed, lightless among the rest. Elysia could feel the presence within it, not yet extinguished but fading. This dying star was their chance to be able to close their eyes and block out the light for nothing more than a moment of respite from the eternal light of their own radiance.   Elyisa asked Calleth’Ulan the Soul Light for permission to consume the dying star in order to save it. This was the first twist of truth Elysia spun and was the catalyst of what was to come. Gullible to the request Calleth’Ulan granted said permission with a prideful yes, if such a thing can be experienced by a constellation.   With an almost desperation growing in Elysia they crawled through the void of space and in whatever manner you wish to imagine consumed the dying star. The reaction was an unexpected one, in fact this is an inaccurate statement. Elysia got what they wanted but in a very different way. In consuming the dying star a catalytic explosion of radiant energy rippled through the stars and the surface of Colossus. The light surpassed blinding and scorched many souls on Colossus that would one day show in their bloodlines as the first Celestial Bloodied.   Elysia though was distraught, raging at the light, hating their own radiance. How was this a thing, how had the dying star not given them the darkness they needed. The radiant light persisted for a generation of those living a mortal life and during that time all lived in an eternal daylight.   The other nine creator titans were not overly happy with this and searched for Elysia deep within the light, but were unable to find them. The light was Elysia, so one could say they were hiding in plain sight. The search abandoned and the radiance fading allowing darkness to return to Colossus Elysia witnessed the soul scorching their actions and reeled from it. They crawled back within themselves pulling the expanse of light closer and closer to them until they were cocooned in it. Now there they pulled from within the dying star, it was at the end of its existence and Elysia began to cry, uncountable tears fell from Elysia, filling the radiant cocoon. For how long they shed those tears nobody could say.   As the cocoon filled Elysia knew they too would expire. Less of a drowning and more of a flame being extinguished. This did not stop them, if anything they welcomed it. All they wanted was a moment of darkness, to rest and not crawl and drag themselves across a void of loneliness. As the cocoon filled to full Elysia clutching the dying star allowed their radiance to fade in time with the star.   Now the sky held a radiant cocoon, static and distant. To some a hopeful light to others an omen of things to come. The Chrysalis of Elysia began to crack and the held in tears fell from the stars to Colossus, cast amounts of them carrying specks of life from the radiance of Elysia and the darkness of the dying star.   As the chrysalis broke entirely Elysia emerged, much to their surprise as their last thought had been one of finality. However they did not crawl, they flew. That's right flew, two pairs of wings carried them from their presumed grave into the crowd of stars. Elsyia spread there wings wide overwhelmed by their beauty. One pair an abstract collection of bright colours rippling through them and the other pair a hidden beauty among the dulled calmer colourings. They had limbs for the first time that reached out and wiggled on command. No longer did Elysia need to crawl.   On their bright wings there were the eight stars of Calleth’Ulan and on the more subtly coloured was the one image of the dying star Elysia had cradled in its last moments. Elyisa looked down at Colossus and knew their story.   Each tear that touched the surface of Colossus instantly chrysalis and lay there for a time. Before their outer dried and cracked giving life to the first humans. Some during the day time and others during the night. They referred to themselves as the Dawn and Dusk Born. The nation they came to build was named Everdawn.   Elysia took residence in the skies of Colossus. Watching their children break free from the Chrysalis Tears. They knew that their created race was to be a vastly important one in the ever telling of this world's stories.   When the creator titan Fury made their move to dominate Colossus it was Elysia that convinced the others to follow them as their person of command or at least for a short enough time as to deal with Fury. Elysia had never forgotten the spin of truth they had passed by Calleth’Ulan and craved the feeling again, many white lies flowed and soon the other Creator Titans took everything Elysia said as truth. This allowed them to convince the other races that the humans were the ones to follow and give allegiance to, not the Orcs of Fury.   Once Fury was locked away in the prison that was Core the humans began their age of empire building.   Elysia took the skies as their own and is the source of all radiant power, energy, light upon Colossus. Their great butterfly wings can sometimes be seen fluttering among a rainbow and their moth-like wings flutter about the moon during a night.
