Keeper of Pebbles

When Colossus was nothing more than an existence of power and potential it play with the possibilities of life and all that it could allow to live upon it. 
A sentient world, one that would mould itself, birth deserts, forests, valleys, highlands, skies, oceans and the mighty mountains.
As more life took its place among the cracks and crevices of Colossus, pride grew from the core, tearing its way through the earth and bursting skywards. 
The tips of these Pride Mountains stretched, trying to caress the clouds. Young , strong, unstoppable, or so they thought.
When Pride is allowed to go unchecked it can grow into arrogance and ego. The shepherds that lived upon the mountains foresaw this and acted.
One among them was given the title of Keeper of the Pebbles. To hear it out loud at festivals and gatherings caused humour among the people. 
What could a person known as Keeper of the Pebbles possibly do?
As acorns become oaks, so do pebbles become mountains. The Pride Mountains needed shepherds of their own. The Keeper was chosen, they were given the first Pebble of Pride. A tiny stone imbued with the spirit of the mountains. 
Too large a place to wander and herd alone meant the Keeper needed help. Those that were born of the mountain, had its strength in their veins learned the ways of herding the stone and keeping the rock safe and calm.
The Keeper of Pebbles watches over the Pride Mountains and the Pebble Shepherds, being the one to pass on the Voice of Stone, and the Wisdom of Granite.
For now the Pride Mountains accept the direction the shepherds suggest to them, whilst the rock remains young, but who knows how much they will push back when they come of age.
