Episode 6: Russian Fools (aka Where Angels Fear to Tread)

General Summary

You return to Asgard only to find your friend Jim Grant pointing a shotgun at your other ally Kester Lewes; it turns out, the latter is a Sandman, a type of foot soldier created by an alien race known as the etoile devoted to taking over the planet Earth. Kester doesn't deny the claim, and instead offers his help -- because if Ragnarok comes to pass, there won't be an Earth for his kind to take over.   "It's sort of a the enemy of my enemy sorta thing," Kester said by way of explanation.   Later that same night, Loki moved in to threaten you in person, and recounted the story of how Odin broke into the vault of a giant named Suttung, bedded his daughter over the course of three nights, and stole the mead of poetry before killing Suttung by forcing him into a pyre.   "Now, they call me the god of mischief. The god of trickery, of treachery… but, well, in any event."   He showed off a pair of JOTUN battletanks and explained that Odin's spear Gungnir or Thor's hammer Mjolnir were nothing compared to the weapons he had and was creating... which led Grant to suggest that maybe the Jotun -- who Globog the Formiddable explained weren't allied with Loki -- could become partners to the Asgardians, too.   With a bunch of magical gear created by the mysterious dwarf Eitri -- including a god-killing rifle, a bigger-on-the-inside bag of healing power, a gun that can turn invisible, magical gloves that make one into an adept fighter, and magical healing syringes -- you four along with Bragi and Grant made your way for Chicago.   In Chicago, you found the The Hoffman Institute office had been overrun by what appeared to be vampires. You bested them, and finally found the body of Jerry McConnell, who while born to run, wasn't able to escape the blood sucking parasites that invaded the place, he too having been turned. Killing them all, you left with some Hoffman computer tech which suggested that the beings were located in Mount Udina, in Eastern Russia.   You met up with Tamisra Isabell in St. Petersberg, who took you to the headquarters of The Hidden Order of St. Gregory, which was presently being investigated by the Russian FSB. Posing as scouts for Ghost Hunters: Ghosts of Europe, you expertly got your way inside and found the place was trashed. Tamisra brought you to the hidden basement headquarters, which too had been overrun. Some work on the computer gave you a ping for the location of the order's leader, Father Sergei Oleg Nikolaev -- Mt. Udina.   You took Bifrost back to Udina, and found a spot that must be the entrance to some underground cavern.   Surely one of Loki's lieutenants, a jotun of great might without a doubt, lies at the end of the mauseoleum, Father Nikolaev his prisoner. But do you have the courage to overcome this sepulcher of terror?
