Constable of the Order of St. Aloysius the Diligent

The Order of St. Aloysius the Diligent’s mandate is to seek out and fight evil in all it’s unnatural and supernatural forms. The proper title given to a member of the Order is Constable. A constable is well trained in tracking down evil, undead, and aberrant creatures and destroying them. Each Constable is a trained warrior, investigator and often a spellcaster of some form. They are often called in to investigate particularly strange murders if supernatural activity is suspected. They are equipped with many magical items and talismans to keep supernatural threats at bay and every Constable has an extra sense that gives them the ability to sense and track these threats. A Constable has wide ranging authority. If a supernatural threat is identified, they have the authority to conscript local authorities and military forces to aid them in their fight against these threats. The only exception is the Justicar Order of the Church of Horan. The champions of the god of justice are not compelled by law to follow commands given by Constables and can often find themselves at odds with them. Members of the Order will do whatever they feel is necessary to stop a supernatural threat. If they believe an entire community is corrupted beyond redemption, they will put the entire community to the sword to keep said corruption from spreading. It’s because of this seemingly callous attitude towards innocent life that makes the Church of Horan mistrust the Order, but if the threat is great enough, the two groups have been known to fight side by side. Constables travel where they need to and can compel even nobility to cooperate with their investigations, under penalty of law. The penalties can vary based on the nature of the offense and can range from jail time to forfeiture of assets or even death. Constables are vigorously tested for loyalty and trained physically and mentally. Any weakness of the mind and body can be grounds for dismissal for any such weaknesses can be exploited by beings that excel at corruption.
