Acceptance letter of Rubonicus Resendoz

To: General Kelleria Freebrace   Greetings and salutations to you,   I would first like to apologize for not taking more heed of your warnings. I would like to think that I am wise and intelligent enough to put ego aside and admit when I am wrong. I must admit that I was skeptical of your initial claims as to the nature of the threat that is afflicting out world. In all my decades of study I have never heard of these "Murk" as you call them. I know that we live in a world of fantastical and magical phenomena, but I suppose I made the mistake of believing that I had seen it all. Through my own investigations I have found evidence to support your claims.    The Murk seem to come is many different varieties from simple, formless shadow creatures that only seem to act on instinct, to more animal like shadow creatures that have at least that animal level of intelligence, to humanoid type beings that have as varying level of intelligence as any sentient race. They all share certain physical characteristics though in that they are impervious to even the most finely crafted mundane weapons. They are as vulnerable to magic as anyone else and they are especially weak to divine power. I hear your cousin Erinad is a cleric of Horan.  I suggest keeping him close to you at all times, especially on the battlefield.   I must admit to a certain amount of trepidation as this threat is moving so quickly and we are so behind in countering it. I believe though that your plan to try to unite the peoples of Colarn against the Murk, may be the best plan that we have despite the difficulties inherent in accomplishing it. I will certainly do my part to gather the necessary resources. I will meet you at Fort Amakis on the Rodico Continent in two months' time. Before that time comes, I will contact others around the world that I am acquainted with that may be able to help us in this endeavor and I will be as discreet as possible.   Good luck and best regards, Headmaster Rubonicus Resendoz The University of Magical Theory and Applications of Killiarn
