The Eye Closes

Religious event

39/47/04

A single cry, a shriek of metal, one moment and one event. The Brasswork Eye, grand relic of the Cognites and the purest symbol of their faith shatters, seemingly without interference or sabotage. The event is heralded as a sign of the Clock's displeasure, and panic grips the nation.

During the High Prayers of the Year, during the 6th hour of the 6th day of the 6th month, The Brasswork Eye, the most intricate clock ever designed, erupted in flame and broken glass. Investigations into the matter found no sign of foul play or outside interference, merely a sudden cessation and detonation.   Despite attempts to quiet the rumours, the destruction of the relic quickly filters out into the populace. Panic grips the Empire as many predict doom and folly to follow, claiming the event as a sign of The Clock's displeasure in their actions.
