Clockworld The Defenestration of Duwal

The Defenestration of Duwal

48/47/04

An attempt upon the life of the Mechanelector is foiled, but tensions between the Steampunks and Cognite Church reach a critical point.

During a tour of The Brazen Empire to reassure the common-folk, Godfrey, Twice-Turned holds court in the town of Duwal in Leiden. Answering the questions of the many notables that lived within the region, he was accosted by members of the Steampunks. Matters turned sour, and incensed by his xenophobic and conservative dismissal of their points, the crowd charged the Mechanelector and threw him out the window.   He survived the assault, but claimed that the attack was a pre-meditated attempt on his life. Despite witnesses claiming otherwise, the public are soon split in two, one half outraged by this assault upon the holy leader, the others merely upset it did not succeed. Unsurpirisngly, all further meetings with the Reformists were cancelled, and The Cognite Church declared a hardline stance without compromise against them.
