In the wake of the Emperor-Elect's attempts to mollify the increasingly fractured kingdoms, a grand council was convened summoning the religious leaders of the north.   For eighteen days they debated before finally, it is said, another ephiphany struck Karlemaech during the council. So inspired by his ravings and visions were those gathered that immediately they bent the knee before him, and forged together the beginnings of The Cognite Church.   The truth of this matter is hotly debated, for many doubt the sincerity of the Emperor-Elect's faith. Instead, these skeptics argue that both bribery and outright coercion were employed to keep the ailing Empire intact.
