The Old Gods

The gods venerated by the people of Khezvaros before the coming of the Empire are collectively known as the Old Gods. With only a few exceptions (like The Lord of Bones), the Old Gods were distant and mysterious, residing in their otherworldly realms and rarely directly involving themselves in the affairs of mortals. When they did reveal their will to humans, more often than not it was to use mortals as pawns in their intrigues against one another or to punish someone who had (often unknowingly) slighted them in some way. Worship of the Old Gods was never prohibited by the Empire, but because they were mainly venerated out of fear and superstition, their temples fell into decline almost immediately when the city and its people came under the protection of the The Imperial Gods.   A few Khezvarans still worship or occasionally pay homage to the Old Gods, but today they mostly live on in stories of pre-Imperial times and as linguistic artifacts in expressions like "By Gorim's Blade." The only Old Gods still well-known are those who have always been frequent visitors to the earthly plane, and therefore are considered something in between the distant Old Gods and the avatars of the Imperial Gods and other "Living Gods" who exist on the mortal plane.   Old Gods
  • Argalak, the Weigher of Souls
  • Eniki , Goddess of the Hunt
  • Gorim, Lord of Battle
  • Gurjo the All-Seeing
  • Ilka the Fire Queen
  • Ilsa, Lady of Winter
  • Ludo the Plowman
  • Nuvizi, Goddess of the Sea
  • Malek the Clever, God of Thieves
  • Pafri the Loregiver
  • Ystin, God of the Sky
  • Zemi, Goddess of Nature
  • Zuri the Temptress
"Living" Old Gods
  • The Lord of Bones , who comes to The Necropolis during the new moon to capture unfortunate souls to serve him in the Carrion Moors.
  • Kreeshka, Mastress of Debauchery, another deity who has long visited the world of mortals to sate their unspeakable desires. They appear as a creature of androgynous beauty with six arms and genitals that are both numerous and perplexing.
  • Ordog the Deceiver is a Devil-like figure who has the power to fulfill any wish, for a price. As his name suggests, the price is almost always higher than the wisher is led to believe. Still there are stories of people who have outsmarted The Old Dog, and some people are foolhardy enough to believe that they can do it too.
