Old Toad's Ghost in City of Ten Thousand Daggers | World Anvil

Old Toad's Ghost

From time to time, the neighborhood of Toad's Corner is visited by the apparition of an aging man on horseback wearing old-fashioned armor. Given the antiquity of his garb and his undeniably toadish appearance, the ghost is belonged to be that of Old Toad, the Laughing Boar who was granted the land where Toad's Corner now stands in return for his service to the House Sholyom. The specter seems to see the land as it was in his time, passing through walls and peoples' homes without noticing the disruption caused by his passage. As long as the ghost rides calmly through the neighborhood as if all is right with his domain, his presence is seen as unsettling but ultimately reassuring. If the spirit is agitated or barking orders to unseen inferiors, it's seen as cause for alarm. Those who encountered the spirit at such a time will find themselves endlessly reapeating their accounts as people try to interpret what sort of trouble Old Toad's words and actions foretell for the Corner.
