Merchant Leagues of Qandhara
The nation of Qandhara is ruled by many powerful Merchant Houses, and often those who join a Merchant House take the name of that Merchant House, and it is not uncommon for entire families to share the same "family" name despite being no genetic relation to each other. These Merchant Houses often ally with each other into larger Merchant Leagues which give them much greater political and economic/trade power that if they operated alone.
