Werkbund

Every Techie in District 3 interacts with Werkbund whether they acknowledge it or not.

Werkbund does one thing: they ensure Materials exist where they are needed, when they are needed, at a documented and fair price. They maintain the most comprehensive materials catalogue in Citadel Nine. Every component, every raw material, every salvaged part that passes through District 3's registered Economy is logged, tagged, and tracked. They explicitly refuse to expand into production because doing so would make them a competitor to the Techies they exist to serve.

Founded and run by Hildegard Brauer. Their catalogue is public and updated weekly. Price gouging is a terminable offense.

Cultural Identity

Distinctly German aesthetic. Precise, documentation-obsessed. Staff wear standardized grey work jackets with color-coded sleeve patches indicating material specialty. Everything is catalogued. Everything has a form. The forms are organized.

An institutional belief that a well-organized system is more important than individual brilliance, and a deep respect for documented expertise. Hildegard has formally offered Netmirth the position of Guild Master four times. She has received no response three times and a threat once. She continues to list her as Guild Master in internal documentation regardless.

Staff

  • Hildegard Brauer — Founder and operational head. Reviews every major pricing update personally.
  • Klaus Ritter — Senior Meister, metals division. His assessment of a material's value is the final word.
  • Tobias Schell — Lehrling Supervisor. Runs the training program; graduates describe it as being rebuilt from scratch.
  • Anneliese Brock — Beschaffer for District 5. Manages all material procurement from D5's channels, including through the Kroty.

Known Relationships

  • Netmirth: Werkbund's unofficial spiritual leader by Hildegard's unilateral designation. Reads the monthly materials report. Has never confirmed this.
  • Vanessa: Werkbund's most consistent individual client by volume.
  • Kroty: Werkbund purchases deep-excavation materials through intermediaries. Both parties prefer not to document the arrangement in detail.
